Athenas Greziako hiriburura iritsi, eta bere kale zaharretan murgildu naiz.
Aireportuan lur hartzean 8ºko tenperatura zegoela esan ziguten, eta euria edo zirimiria ari zuen. Metro urdinean Sintagma plazako geltokira hurbildu  (15 bat parada) eta handik bi geltokitara zegoen beste Omnia plazan hasi nintzen oinez.
Lehen gaua Lozanni deritzon hotel zahar batean eman dut. Azkenerako lehertuta. Euskal Herritik atera nintzela 12 ordu eta dagoeneko nekatuta. Baina sentsazio oso onekin, kirolariak bezala.
Hibai Arbide kazetariarekin telegram bidez komunikatzen jarraitu, eta City Plaza hotelera abiatzeko argibideak eman zizkidan. Oso gertu neukan oinez, ordu laurdenera edo. -Atzoko garagardoa gaur hartu beharko dugu, Hibai!

Iritsitakoan, Ongi etorri! dion afitxa handi bat ate gainean. Eta ume mordoa builaka, olgetan, arineketan batetik bestera. Bi gazte afganistandarrek sukaldea erakutsi didate, eta hoteleko egon gelan eta taberna txiki batean hemendik eta handik etorritako gehiago ezagutu nituen. Txile aspaldi utzi zuen sukaldariak harrera egin zidan, egun Eslovenian bizi da, baina 9 hilabete daramatza sukaldeko arduradun okupatutako hotel honetan. Sukalde lanetan

Bolondresak dira hemen ari diren guzti guztiak, eta ez dute inongo instituzio, gobernuz kanpoko erakunde eta abarren laguntzarik jasotzen. Autogestionatutako gunea da. Librea. Irekia eta parte hartzailea.
Datozen egunotan, gehiago ezagutu eta kontatzeko aukera izango dut. Orain, motxila hartu eta banoa auzolanera.

Llevo un día en Grecia. Y hoy me he puesto a ayudar en el hotel City Plaza de Atenas. El mejor hotel del mundo. Fue un hotel de lujo, y ahora es un lujo poder estar aquí. Un hotel ocupado, autogestionado y hogar de cerca de 400 refugiados. Gestionado por voluntarios y sin ningún tipo de ayuda publica ni de ONGs, un montón de personas solidarias colaboran para que este proyecto siga día a día en marcha. Un lujo de hotel, de verdad.

Esta mañana; respondiendo a un montón de amistades e intentando leer un poco, entre tanta emoción; he sabido que ya han pasado 10 años de la muerte del escritor y periodista Kapuściński.

Un periodista que conoció guerras y guerrillas, revueltas y noticias que impactaron al mundo. Kapuściński escribía con el corazón, para tratar de explicar la situación en el mundo.
La razón y la palabra fueron sus mejores armas.

Escribe otro periodista, Pascual Serrano, que Kapuściński nos recuerda que si de verdad se quieren ofrecer al lector las claves para comprender el mundo, no se puede pasar de puntillas sobre las tragedias que asolan a la humanidad, no basta con decir qué mala es la guerra, qué terrible es el hambre o qué pena ser pobre. Hay que explicar los orígenes, los intereses, los motivos que mueven a los diferentes sectores y grupos humanos a adoptar un determinado comportamiento.

Por eso, desde Grecia tratando de ayudar en lo posible a los refugiados y denunciar su situación, intentaré profundizar en las causas de su huida, de su refugio, de lo que dejan atrás todas estas personas llegadas desde Siria, Libia, Afganistan, Túnez, Palestina o Kurdistan…

Detrás de cada sonrisa de estos niños y niñas, de sus familiares, de la gente que estoy conociendo aquí…hay toda una historia. Personal y política. De ellos y de toda la humanidad.

First chronicle from Greece

A first day in Greece for me. And today I’ve been helping out at the City Plaza Hotel in Athens. The best hotel in the world. It was a luxury hotel, and now it is a luxury to be here. A busy, self-managed hotel and home to about 400 refugees. Managed by volunteers and without any public help or NGOs, a lot of supportive people collaborate to make this project continue day by day. A luxury hotel, really.

This morning; responding to a lot of friends and trying to read a little, among so much emotion; I have learned that 10 years have passed since the death of the writer and journalist Kapuściński.

A journalist who knew wars and guerrillas, riots and news that impacted the world. Kapuściński wrote with the heart, to try to explain the situation in the world.
Reason and word were his best weapons.

Another journalist, Pascual Serrano, writes that Kapuściński reminds us that if you really want to offer the reader the keys to understanding the world, you can not tiptoe over the tragedies that devastate humanity, it is not enough to say how bad the War, how terrible is hunger or what a pity to be poor. It is necessary to explain the origins, the interests, the reasons that move the different sectors and human groups to adopt a certain behavior.

That is why, from Greece trying to help the refugees as much as possible and denouncing their situation, I will try to deepen the causes of their flight, their refuge, what is left behind by all those people coming from Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Tunisia, Palestine or Kurdistan …

Behind every smile of these children, their families, the people I am meeting here … there is a whole story. Personal and politics. Of them and of all humanity.
